Paper Accordion Lanterns

25 Sep

I love the look of the paper accordion lanterns I found on Etsy.   They’re such a cute and easy way to decorate any room but especially a nursery or a child’s room.  And of course, they’d be great for a special occasion.

I thought I’d share some other photos of these simple lanterns in place for more inspiration.  You can buy the lanterns on from Martha Stewart Crafts.

Awkward on Etsy

30 Jun

Found this cute little one-man shop on Etsy called Awkward which designs and sells clothing and accessories – mostly handknits.  I thought these little wool jellyfish were just adorable and a great accessory for a nursery or playroom.

Out of the Netherlands, Inke bring these funky little wallpaper designs.  Each animal is handmade and comes in a do-it-yourself kit including the brush and eco-friendly wallpaper adhesive.  You can choose your animal’s wallpaper from a variety of vintage designs to make your room truly unique.  Great idea for a nursery! They also carry a nice range of textiles for children’s rooms.

Great online shop for baby stuff

3 Apr

I’m probably very behind on this but I just discovered this great website for baby gifts and nursery items called Fawn & Forest.  http://www.fawnandforest.com/ There are so so so many cute baby decor and gift ideas on this site.  I think it will be my go-to site for future baby gifts.  Lots of great stuff and all very design-y — like modern nursery furniture and a very trendy dollhouse with floor to ceiling windows and LED lights – how cool.

Fabric wall stickers from Mae

27 Mar

These are very adorable and great way for changeable decor — or again, for an apartment (why didn’t I know about all these ideas all those years I was living in apartments??). Australian design company, Mae, brings us this original range of reusable fabric stickers.  They won’t damage your walls, they’re made from recycled materials wherever possible and they’re super cute.  They have a store on Etsy in US dollars or check out their site (prices posted are in Aussie Dollars).

Letterpress Bunting

13 Dec

Here’s a fun little Christmas decor idea — some easy-to-make bunting using vintage images available  from Hello Handmade http://www.etsy.com/shop/hellohandmadepaperie

Last year, Molly and I made a similar bunting for Jessica’s baby shower. We scanned a swatch of the striped fabric that Jess was using for the nursery and then added a letter in Photoshop to each flag saying “Great Expectations” (which we thought was oh so clever given that Jessica and I became friends through the bookclub). It turned out very cute but sadly, I didn’t take a picture of it.  But bunting and papercraft are such a fun and easy way to spiff up the house for Christmas.

Funkified silhouettes and a fun poster

3 Dec

I came across this fun little silhouette duo a few weeks ago and saved it into a folder hoping that I’d remember to do a post on it because I thought they were so fun. I don’t actually know what they’re made of but they look like they’re silhouettes of mom & dad in a baby’s room.  I love the fun pattern incorporated into the art and the colors are so happy.

And speaking of happy colors, I love this heart poster.  It’s just simple and fun and could brighten up just about any room.  The simplest ideas are sometimes the best when it comes to making a room work and I think this is a case in point.
